Possible Tinea Capitis (aka Scalp Ringworm) question?

I have went to multiple doctors who just give me anti biotics and say i have folliculitis but I have 2 patches of bald spots where you can still see the hair roots. I think this is actually tinea capitis because they do not go away. I have had one go away over time before and the hair grew back. I was wondering if instead of going to get another doctor and being misagnosed if there is an over the counter cream/lotion/powder/shampoo I can use to get rid of this problem as it is very embarassing. I have some Lamisil Defense tolnaftate 1% powder (I have no attempted to use it), I also have some generic Clotrimazole USP 1% cream (again haven't attempted to us it). Lastly I have some Ketoconazole cream 2%... I was wondering if any of these will work in this situation any past experiences with this or these medical ointments would be greatly appreciated.

Scalp ringworm (tinea captitis) is an infection of the scalp or hair roots them selves,i too have had this annoying problem in the past and tried so many things,doctors kept telling me it was one thing and another telling me different,

there is one shampoo you could try its called Nizoral shampoo and it is for fungal infection on the scalp you can buy it without a prescription,its safe to try and wont harm if you haven't got fungal,i tried that in the past it worked the first time but when i got fungal again years later it didn't work,

the reason was it was under my hair roots so no creams or shampoos had any affect at all,Ketoconazal is something that is in the Nizoral shampoo so it may well help if its on the surface,i tried creams too but it did nothing at all,

so try the Nizoral if it wont work you will need a skin test of the area to see what it is,hope this helps,i know it is an annoying thing to deal with.
